Florida Class D Security Course FAQs

All in-person Florida Class D courses take place at our training facility located at 6971 Hancock Drive, Port St. Lucie, FL 34952. The location is easy to find within the Carlton Square Plaza, with ample on-site parking available for students.

Class D in-person training costs $289, while the online sessions cost $179.  Class G training is priced at $279. Active and retired military members can save $25 per class with a valid military ID, making both courses more affordable for veterans.

Felony convictions can disqualify applicants even if they happened years ago. Though some exceptions exist depending on the charge, time elapsed, and any prison time served. We recommend contacting FDACS directly to review your specific case.

We recommend the in-person unarmed security class, since it offers more hands-on learning and direct interaction with instructors. Students often retain information better and feel more prepared for real-world security situations after attending in person.

The Class D certification course is available either in-person at our Port St. Lucie facility or fully online via Zoom. Choose whichever format best fits your schedule, learning style, and travel availability.

Yes, the in-person course includes hands-on practical training that the online course does not offer. However, both formats are 40 hours long and result in the same valid Class D security license upon completion.

Yes, the Class D security course is offered in a fully online format through live Zoom sessions. This option is convenient for students who cannot attend in-person classes due to distance or scheduling conflicts.

To qualify for a Class D license, you must be at least 18 years old, complete the required 40-hour training course, and submit your application to the Florida Division of Licensing for approval. 

You can secure your spot by making a $99 deposit, either by calling our office directly or visiting our website and filling out the course form. We recommend registering as early as possible, since monthly class sizes are limited.

You can sign up for the online security guard class by visiting join.securityinflorida.com/online-unarmed-course. Registering ahead of time is recommended, since this monthly online format has limited seats available each session.

Bring a valid driver's license showing you are at least 18 years old. If you are not a U.S. citizen, you'll also need to bring your work visa documentation to confirm your eligibility to work in the country.
