Florida Security Licensing & Training FAQs
The Unarmed D License course costs $289, though discounts may apply if you choose the online format instead of in-person training. The Armed G License course is priced at $279.00, covering required classroom instruction and range time.
Class D unarmed training runs the first week of every month, while Class G armed training follows in the third week. This monthly schedule lets students complete both licenses back-to-back if they plan their enrollment in advance.
No, that schedule is not available. Online training is offered only for the Class D Unarmed course and must be completed in full 8-hour daily sessions over Zoom with a live instructor, not split across evenings.
The in-person class costs $289 and includes hands-on training plus the final exam. The online class costs $179, though it requires a separate proctored exam fee paid at the time of testing.

After completing the training course, you will receive a completion certificate. Then, schedule an appointment at the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services office to submit your application and get fingerprinted. You can also submit your application online, or mail it to the department’s address.

The 40-hour in-person course is held in Port St. Lucie, while the online course can be taken from anywhere in the world, as long as you have a laptop or computer with a working webcam.
