This Practical and Tactical Handcuffing Class:

Is a hands-on, comprehensive class that will teach students the MOST IMPORTANT ELEMENTS of handcuffing; which is, to maintain SAFETY of the officer and of the subject. These safety aspects are vital to keep the security officer out of the court system; both civilly and criminally, due to wrongful techniques and harm or injury of cuffed subjects.

Handcuffs are among the most often used tool by officers, yet training is often lacking. Studies show that over 67% of resistance by subjects occurs after the first handcuff has been applied.

  2. Students will be able to identify and articulate the legal aspects and responsibilities of handcuffing a suspect.
  3. Students should be able to discern threat and safety.
  4. A Handcuffing Certificate will be granted at the end of the class to those who: pass the written exam, display cognitive understanding of handcuffing safety and risk, and can perform the physical tasks displayed during the handcuffing practicals.
  5. Handcuffing certifications do not expire, however, continued training in the use of handcuffs is vital to maintain confidence and reduce injury.
